Our conversation in class yesterday reminded me of one of my pastor's favorite paintings. It's called Eve's Redeemer and it shows Mary counseling Eve and stomping on the head of a snake. It kind of reinforces what Dr. Huber said about how Jesus is the second Adam and Mary is the second Eve.
I like this picture a lot! I haven't ever seen it before but I think it is really awesome that the image shows Mary crushing the head of the serpent (just as it was prophesied in Genesis that Jesus will crush the head of the serpent). This is the same serpent that tricked Eve into eating from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. Also, it is interesting how this culture depicts the forbidden fruit as pears, and not apples.
