Blessing Brackets?

1 comment:

  1. This is interesting. Usually my family and I would have our Easter baskets blessed each year, not brackets. Do they mean sports brackets? Where was this sign? I may not be well informed, but from what I know, Easter basket blessings are a common Polish tradition. (I believe blessing of food is also a Catholic tradition as well, please correct me if I am wrong). To get a basket blessed, food is placed in a basket and taken to a church on the saturday before Easter. A priest then blesses the food in the baskets for each family to eat on Easter day. Baskets may be filled with salt, meat, eggs, and bread. Each food symbolizes something different in the tradition. For instance, hard boiled eggs are included in the basket to represent Jesus' life and resurrection. Salt represents purification, ham represents joy and abundance, and bread represents the body of Jesus.
